Are you passionate about procurement and looking for an opportunity to make a real difference?
At Barnardo's, everything we do is focused on changing childhoods and changing lives. As we deliver our organisational strategy, our Procurement team plays a vital role in ensuring every pound we spend achieves the greatest possible impact for children, young people and families.
This is where you come in.
We're looking for a motivated and commercially minded Procurement Officer to join our Procurement team. This is an exciting opportunity to develop your procurement career within a purpose-driven organisation while gaining exposure to a diverse range of categories, suppliers and stakeholders across a large and complex national charity.
Working within our developing category management function, you'll support procurement and sourcing activities from initial requirement through to contract award, helping colleagues make informed commercial decisions while delivering value for money, managing risk and improving outcomes across the organisation.
Whether you're already working in procurement or have relevant commercial, contract management or sourcing experience, this role offers the opportunity to build broad procurement expertise and contribute to meaningful work that has a direct impact on the services Barnardo's provides.
What we're looking for
We're seeking someone with a combination of commercial awareness, curiosity and a collaborative approach.
You will ideally have:
- Experience supporting or delivering procurement, sourcing, commercial or contract management activities.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills.
- The ability to analyse information and data to support decision-making.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Good commercial awareness and an understanding of value-for-money principles.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
- A willingness to learn, develop and build a long-term career in procurement.
A procurement qualification such as CIPS Level 4, or a desire to work towards one, would be advantageous but is not essential.
Why join Barnardo's?
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a supportive and progressive procurement team at an exciting stage in its development. You'll gain experience across a broad range of procurement activities, work with stakeholders from across the organisation and help shape commercial outcomes that directly support Barnardo's mission.
In return, you'll be part of an organisation that values collaboration and continuous learning while providing the chance to use your skills for a genuinely meaningful purpose.
If you're looking to develop your procurement career whilst making a tangible difference to the lives of children and young people, we'd love to hear from you.
Please note that we do not operate under UK public procurement regulations, therefore experience of the Procurement Act is not a requirement for this role.
