Corporate Safety Adviser – North Region
Barnardos Corporate Safety Team are looking for a talented and driven Health and Safety professional to provide health and safety support for our operations within our North* Region.
This really is a fantastic opportunity to join a crucial team in Barnardos who provide a range of multidisciplinary specialist expert advice and assistance to a multitude of teams, colleagues and senior managers across Barnardos. Our core purpose is to enable Barnardos meet its strategic objectives whilst ensuring that safety is a focal consideration during any activity Barnardos undertakes.
The role requires a flexible approach to work. You will be expected to be visible within your Region, meeting our customer needs up to 3 days a week which will involve travel and potentially include overnight stays as necessary. Travel to our team meetings (at least 4 times per year) is mandatory and this will likely involve travel outside of the Region you are responsible for, therefore an overnight stay will be highly likely on such occasions.
*Our activities in the North Region are currently in locations such as Cumbria, the Northeast, the North West, Yorkshire and the North Midlands (served by main routes such as the M1, A1, M62, M6). This can change due to the nature of commissioned work and requirements of Barnardos Strategic Objectives.
Essential criteria to evidence in your application:
- Hold the NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent)
- Hold Certified Status of IOSH and a desire to progress to Chartered Status. (provide evidence of working towards this)
- Experience of working in a similar role within Health and Social Care would be advantageous
- Have a sound knowledge base regarding health and safety legislation
- Hold a full UK Driving Licence - A company car will be provided to the successful candidate.
- Must be a great communicator, engaging, and always with a learning mindset
- Individuals must be trustworthy, able to manage their workload, work independently with their own initiative
- Drive to become a valued member of the many teams we work alongside to promote a positive health and safety culture
- Experience of delivering engaging training both face to face and virtually
- Comfortable with delivering support to customers via IT systems
