About Us

For over 14 years, Barnardo's ETS has supported NEET young people aged 16–19 across Yorkshire. We deliver high-quality Study Programmes, Apprenticeships and Employment pathways, with a strong focus on inclusion, safeguarding and personalised learner support.

The Role

We are looking for an enthusiastic Childcare Tutor to plan and deliver Level 1 and Level 2 Childcare qualifications to Study Programme learners.

You will:

  • Deliver engaging lessons across Level 1 and Level 2 Childcare/ Early Years units

  • Create lesson plans, schemes of work, assessments and high-quality learning resources

  • Support learners to develop core childcare knowledge, skills and employability

  • Provide regular, constructive feedback and track progress against qualification criteria

  • Adapt delivery for learners with SEND, behavioural needs or other barriers to learning

  • Work closely with pastoral staff, English & Maths tutors and support teams

  • Prepare learners for progression into Level 3, apprenticeships or employment

  • Maintain compliance with awarding body requirements, Ofsted expectations and Barnardo's quality standards

  • Contribute to curriculum development and continuous improvement initiatives

What We're Looking For

Essential:

  • Relevant Childcare/Early Years qualification (L3 or above)

  • A recognised teaching qualification (PTLLS/AET/Cert Ed or equivalent)

  • Experience teaching or supporting 16–19 learners within FE, training or youth settings

  • Understanding of Level 1 and Level 2 Childcare content and assessment

  • Strong classroom management, communication and organisational skills

  • Passion for supporting young people—especially those who are vulnerable or facing challenges

Desirable:

  • Experience delivering NCFE CACHE Childcare qualifications

  • Experience supporting learners with SEND or complex barriers

  • Knowledge of vocational progression pathways into Level 3 Childcare or EYE Apprenticeships
